About Melissa

I was born and raised in House District 38. I graduated with honors from Heritage High School. In high school, I ran cross country and played soccer. I attended Colorado State and Metropolitan State College. I also studied Marine Biology in Santa Barbara, California. I’ve worked in several fields including the service industry, sales, the airline industry and music & entertainment. My career experiences have given me knowledge of a variety of industries and the ability to work with people of many different backgrounds. For the last 7 years, I have been a small business owner, operating a home child care near downtown Littleton. I’ve followed politics in this district and I’ve helped in local campaigns throughout the years.

I am the proud mother of my son who attends LPS schools in special education. I knew early on that he was unique and I was determined to be his strongest ally and advocate. Being the mother of a special needs child has given me deep levels of patience and compassion. It has shown me the strength, beauty, and perfection of the imperfect in all of us.

I decided to run for this office because I can feel the tides of change surging. I’ve watched as those who have been silenced for so long are finally speaking up and taking back their power. We need leadership in HD38 that understands these rising forces and can harness them and focus them toward positive change. I am that leader because I am part of these rising forces. The time is NOW!
